Instagram Launches New Shopping Features Ahead Of The Holiday Shopping Season
With the holiday shopping season approaching, Instagram has launched a trio of new shopping features that make it even easier for users to discover and purchase products from the convenience of the app. Per the company’s statement, the features provide users with new ways to discover new products, shop from their favorite brands, and keep track of all their shopping inspiration in one place.
When users come across products featured in a brand's Story or Feed post, they have the ability to save them privately to a shopping dedicated collection. By tapping the product tag on a post and then tapping the Save icon, users can create a collection of products that they are interested in and can revisit later. This feature is perfect for creating a "Wish List" or just keeping track of potential gifts for friends and family
Redesigned Shop Tab:
Thanks to a redesign of the Shop tab on businesses profiles, users can easily view all the products that a business has featured in their shopping posts in one place. The name of the product, the price of it, and the Instagram post that it is featured in will be displayed to the user.
Shopping In Feed Videos:
Businesses have the option to tag products in their videos. As a result, when users come across these videos, they can find out more about the product by tapping the shopping icon at the bottom left of the video.
The features are the latest example of Instagram’s continued expansion into the e-commerce space. They come two months after it rolled out Shopping In Stories and Shopping In Explore as well as rumors that it’s working on a standalone shopping app. It’s unknown whether that app will ever arrive, but it’s almost a guarantee that e-commerce will be a big part of Instagram in the near future.
