A month after rolling out Anchor 3.0,  Anchor introduces a new feature called Cohosts. With the new feature, you can find a cohost for the next episode of your podcast.

You can use the feature by picking a topic (i.e. photography, parenting, marathon training, etc)  or adding a custom topic from the homescreen. From there, you will be connected with someone who is interested in talking about the same topic. You will then have 30 seconds to introduce yourselves and prep your conversation.

There is a 15 minute time cap for the episode, however that time cap is removed if you decide to use the Record With Friends feature and record with that person again in the future. In addition, Anchor asks you to rate your cohost with either a thumbs up or thumbs down. If you select thumbs down, the app will ask you to provide context so it can investigate. For those who are deemed abusive, Anchor will ban them from the platform.

With Cohosts, Anchor gets back to its early roots as a social platform. While it does help podcasters find a cohost, which can be a challenge, the most appealing aspect of the new feature is that will help in building community by giving users the ability to create and foster relationships.

The Cohosts feature is now available for free on Android and iOS devices.
