Instagram is rolling out a new feature that allows you to livestream with a co-host
Live streaming is becoming a big part of the social media experience everyday. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter all have the capability to do so. But, Instagram is now taking the lead and looking to seperate its live streaming feature from the others.
Today, Instagram announces that they are beginning to roll out Go Live With, a new feature which allows you to livestream with a guest. Right now, it's available to a small percent of users for testing purposes but over the next few months, it will be rolled out to all users.
How To Use Go Live With
To use Go Live With is easy. First, start a broadcast by going to Instagram Stories and swiping to the Live mode. From there, click on the faces graphic at the bottom right of the screen, which will generate a list of users that are currently watching your broadcast. To add one of the users as a co-host, simply click Add. This will send them a invitation. Once they accept it, the livestream will switch to a split-screen format with you appearing above your co-host.
At the moment, you can only livestream with one other user. However, once you remove them as a host, you can invite another user to be a co-host. You can repeat this process as many times as you want.
As I've said before, Instagram is ahead of the game when it comes to keeping its app fresh. I think the Go With Live feature is going to be a hit. I can see it be used in many ways and being especially useful for people in the media, influencers, and other content creators. Despite not actually being able to use the feature yet, Go With Live seems like it would be great for interviews, panels or anything else along those lines.
