According to Instagram, this update is the newest way that the company is working to make "Direct the best place to have fun, visual conversations with friends on Instagram."

It's no secret that Instagram has adopted many of SnapChat's features specifically Stories. Their latest update continues that as one of the SnapChat's best offering was the ability to directly communicate with friends through photo and videos. With Instagram now allowing this, the need to leave Instagram and open up SnapChat to have these type of visual conversations with friends is no longer necessary. Why use multiple apps when you can just use one? The battle between Instagram and SnapChat gets more interesting as new features and updates are rolled out for each platform.
